COMPETING FOR LAOS IN THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE

Lao students at ESBS in Vientiane have the merit and distinction of speaking, getting along and competing with one another in Turkish.

Competing to qualify for the 8th International Turkish Olympiads to be held in May-June 2010 in Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey, ESBS students gave the jury a hard time to elect the best in all three categories, i.e. Singing, Poetry and Grammar.

National finals were held in ESBS on 29 January 2010. Juries were challenged in the task of selecting the best piece in Singing and Poetry Recitation categories, considering students’ skillful rendering of poems and songs.

In Singing Category, Ms. Lina VAKESKY, Student of Secondary-2 bagged the first award and qualified for representing Laos in the 8th International Turkish Olympiad with her song, “Karahisar Kalesi” which literally translates as ‘The Castle of Karahisar’.

Ms. Malaphone SOMMISAY Student of Secondary-2 secured the first award and qualified for representing Laos in the 8th International Turkish Olympiad with her poem ‘Mehlika Sultan’. In Grammar and Writing categories, Ms. Soulisa DUANGMALA student of Secondary -2 secured the first position to compete for Laos among students hailing from 165 world countries at the 8th International Turkish Olympiad 2010.

Mr.Ali , The manager of ESBS, conferred awards to national finalists and congratulated them for their feat. Wishing them success at finals in Turkey, Ms. Sumeyye, Turkish Teacher also handed awards to the finalist.
